We’ve all been there. You’re website isn’t working and you’re not sure why. Before you call tech support, there are a few steps you can take to ensure the problem is with your actual site. And if there is a problem how you can tell tech support more accurately what is going on with your website.
- Is your browser cached?
- Is your browser (Safari, Firefox or Internet Explorer) taking you to a stored version that may not exist anymore?
- Try visiting to a site you’ve never been to before, is that site working?
- To clear your browser history or cache follow the steps in this tutorial.
- 2. Are you using an outdated browser?
- Click on the Main Menu, then select About (the name of whichever browser you are using).
- The version you have will be listed.
- Then search “latest version of (browser name here).”
- If the version is old, update your browser.
- Check another computer to see if the problem exists on other machines.
- Check that all your software is up-to-date.
- If the error continues to occur take a screen shot or write down the error message, the more information you can give the better.
- Notice the behavior of your computer or website. Knowing how the site is acting differently compared to normal can give tech support information to solve your problem faster.
